History

Petersville was originally called Quigley.[2] The present name honors John Peters and family, pioneer settlers.[2] The town was platted as Petersville in 1902.[3]

A post office was established under the name Quigley in 1883, and renamed Petersville in 1902; this post office closed in 1935.[4][5]

gollark: Mobile network specs require towers to have very, very accurate timers, and they can do multilateration (and without that know your location down to the nearest cell, at least).
gollark: I guess lots of the phone network gets timing from GPS, but still.
