Peter Collecott
Peter Salmon Collecott, CMG, was the British Ambassador to Brazil from 2004 to 2008.
He is a member of ADRg Ambassadors.
Biography
- Born on 8 October 1950.
- Graduated in Mathematics from St John's College, Cambridge, where he was Captain of Soccer.
- PhD degree in Theoretical Physics from University of Cambridge.
- Married Judith Patricia Pead in 1982.
Career
- Entered Diplomatic Service in 1977.
- Studied Arabic before a posting as First Secretary in Khartoum in 1980.
- First Secretary (Economic/Commercial) Canberra 1982.
- Head, Iran/Iraq Section, FCO 1986.
- Assistant Head, European Community Department (External), FCO 1988.
- Counsellor later Deputy Head of Mission Jakarta 1989.
- Counsellor (EU and Economic) Bonn 1994.
- Director Resources, FCO 1999.
- Chief Clerk, later Director General Corporate Affairs, 2001.
- British Ambassador to Brazil from August 2004 until November 2008.[1]
