Peter Žiga

Peter Žiga (born 27 July 1972) is a Slovak politician who was the Minister of Economy in the Robert Fico's Third Cabinet from March 2016 to March 2020.[1] Peter Žiga is member of the Direction – Social Democracy (slovak: SMER-SD) party.

Previous political career:

2012 – 2016: Minister of the Environment of the Slovak Republic

2010 – 2012: Member of Parliament, National Council of the Slovak Republic

2006 – 2010: State Secretary, Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic

From the very beginning of his political beginnings as Minister of the Environment, he has been known and at the same time investigated as a corrupt and robber of the state owned forests, at the expense of which his private company benefited. [2] [3]

During his tenure at the Ministry of the Environment, many multimillion cases of plunder of public finances and Eurofunds started to be investigated by the new government. Corruption under Žig's leadership has grown to unbearable proportions, from the signing of unfavorable contracts for the export of timber to the signing of millions of eurodonations for companies from around the political party Smer.
