Among the recurring characters Weathers played was Ronald Reagan[8] His musical ability was called upon in a skit where he played Bob Dylan, opposite guest host David Carradine, reprising his portrayal of Woody Guthrie.[7] He also played Ravi Shankar, the musician who introduced The Beatles to Indian music.
Weathers had a successful musical career, prior to his year on SNL, and returned to music afterwards, releasing three albums, and settling in New Orleans.[1][9][10] He owns several art galleries there.[11]
In 2019, when the number of SNL cast members grew to 151, attempts were made to map each one to one of the original 151 Pokémon characters.[11] Weathers was mapped to Graveler.

I am joined this week by former SNL cast member, Patrick Weathers. He was on the show during its infamous sixth season, and appeared opposite Ferrell in The Campaign. I asked him how much fan service we might see tonight – any chance Gene Frenkle might return for another cowbell rendition?! “I’m sure we’ll have some surprises [tonight], but not everything will be new, for the sake of fans and nostalgia,” says Weathers.

Weathers, hired for the 1980-81 season, appeared on-camera a handful of times, most notably in a sketch called 'Ravi Sings' (impersonating sitar-playing guru Ravi Shankar shilling an album of American pop songs) and in 'Dylan & Guthrie' as Bob Dylan opposite a dying Woody Guthrie (guest host David Carradine). Since leaving 'SNL' he’s worked steadily in film and television, including roles in 'Preacher,' 'Roots' and 'Underground.'
