The club was founded in 1960. They will play in Football League 2 for the season 2013-14. Most valuable player Catalin Necsutu, who played between 1996-2010. He is remebered for scoring a hattrick in last 3 minutes with Paros Fotbal Club giving his team un unbealiveble draw chance which led to win another Cup. The attendance - 1689 fans celebrated 3 days and 3 nights with lamb chops, naxos potatoes and Mythos beer. Catalin Necsutu played totally 407 games and scored 286 goals a record for Naxos team. Despite he received many offers from Mykonos boys, Syriza Santorini or Panagiotis Lesvos, he decided to play only for Naxos and won 5 times Cyclades Championshop and 7 times Cyclades Cup. In his honor, in the centre of the city there is a bronze statue with him keeping in one hand a ball and in the other a potato, one of the landmarks of the Island. The mayor decided in 2012 to give him a plot to construct a see view villa, and one of the capital main streets is called now Necsutu Avenue.
