Panj peer
Panj Peer (or Panj Pir), meaning the Five Great Saints, used to be accompanied together in their lifetime (Punjabi) literature,[1] as follows:
- Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti also known Gharib Nawaz (Ajmersharif, India)
- Khwaja Qutbuddin Bakhtiar Kaki, of Mahroli, Delhi
- Sheikh Baba Farid Ganjshakar (Pakpattan, Punjab)
- Baha'ud din Zakariya (Multan, Punjab)
- Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (Sehwan, Sindh)
These are mentioned in the great love-epic of the Sufi poet Sayyid Waris Shah "Heer Ranjha", which opens with an invocation to these holy sages.
