Pambar River (Northern Tamil Nadu)
Pambar is a tributary of the Thenpennai River of Tamil Nadu, India.
The Pambar river is formed by the rainwater of the forests around Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh. It comes and joins the Othikuppam Lake in the Mathur area. This lake is about 50 acres in size. From this lake the river flows through Bargur, Mathur, Uthangarai areas. Then it reaches the Pambar Reservoir near Marampatti in Uthangarai Taluk of Krishnagiri District.[1]
The excess water flowing out after filling the reservoir reaches the Thenpennai River. Since the income of water to Othikuppam Lake has decreased due to the barrages constructed by the Andhra Pradesh Government, the dam is mostly seen dry. The river is also being affected by encroachments.[2]
