• Pakistan Human Development Fund (PHDF) is registered with SECP as a not for profit Company under section 42 of Companies Ordinance. The Company was incorporated in July, 2002. PHDF is a unique Public Private Partnership initiative to mobilize resources for improving human development indicators in Pakistan. It serves as a conduit for funds that channelizes the resources from the Government of Pakistan, private sector and the international donor agencies to National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) and its programs. Simultaneously, a public sector organization National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) was established with the same objectives of improving human development situation in Pakistan by the government that envisioned achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) related to health and education.
• The Board of Directors of PHDF comprises reputed successful individuals from various fields and corporate bodies within and outside Pakistan, who contributed US$100,000 each. A representative of UNDP and two federal secretaries of Government of Pakistan i.e. Ministries of Finance and Education & Training are ex-officio members.
• PHDF was given an Endowment Fund of Rs.750 million by the Government of Pakistan under an Endowment Fund Deed signed between Pakistan Human Development Fund and Federal Government.
• Purpose of the Endowment Fund is to make profitable investments and meet the operational cost of NCHD out of its income;
• In accordance with Endowment Fund Deed, the Funds are invested through the Fund Managers by an Investment Committee of the Board of Directors which meets every quarter to review the performance of the fund managers and to discuss investment related matters.
• Agreements are signed with the Fund managers are given an investment criteria developed by the Investment Committee.
