Olive-backed quail-dove

The olive-backed quail-dove (Leptotrygon veraguensis) is a species of bird in the family Columbidae. It is the only species in the genus Leptotrygon.

An Olive-backed quail-dove in the wild

It is found in Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Nicaragua, and Panama. Its natural habitat is lowland tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests.

The olive-backed quail-dove feeds on seeds, small fruits and small invertebrates. The quail-dove is typically encountered alone or in pairs. It prefers to walk or run when fleeing from danger, but will sometimes flush short distances if disturbed.[2]
