Rugby career

Lindenwood University

After graduating high school Feakes earned a rugby scholarship to Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri. During his time at Lindenwood University Feakes helped the Lions win the College 7s National Championship twice in 2017 [1] and 2018. In both years Feakes was the leading try-scorer and MVP of the tournament. [2]

In 2018 Feakes was also part of the Lindenwood team that won the 2018 Collegiate Rugby Championships in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Feakes scored a hat-trick of tries in the Lions 17-7 semi-final victory over Life University. The Lions went on to defeat UCLA 26-7 in the final. [3]

Feakes got his first chance to represent the United States when he was selected to play for the Collegiate All-Americans (U23) in their 55-10 win against Major League Rugby side Glendale Raptors. [4] A week later, Feakes captained the Collegiate All Americans 7s team, alongside Harley Wheeler, to a third placed finish at the 2018 Rugbytown 7's tournament. After the tournament, Feakes and teammate Wheeler were named in the all-tournament team. [5]

NOLA Gold

In October 2018, Feakes signed a one-year contract with the NOLA Gold of Major League Rugby. [6] On 2 March 2019, in a match against the Utah Warriors Feakes became the first MLR player to score a hat-trick of tries in the 2019 season. [7]. Feakes was named the Major League Rugby Player of the Week after the game.

Feakes was voted Rookie of the year by his NOLA Gold team for his inaugural performance in the 2019 MLR season. Following his first season he then captained the NOLA Gold 7s team in their first foray into the Rugby Town Sevens tournament in August 2019, stewarding NOLA Gold to third place, in a remarkable and dramatic series of matches. This earned him a place on the Rugby Town Seven’s Dream Team.
