Team history

Beginning play in 1920, the Nashville White Sox were a charter member of the newly formed Negro Southern League. The 10-team circuit included other teams from Tennessee, as well as representatives teams from Alabama, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The team was managed by Marshall Garrett in its first season.[2] The White Sox defeated the Montgomery Grey Sox in four straight games of a play-off series (2–1, 3–2, 2–1, and 3–1) to win the Negro Southern League title in 1920.[1]
