It was opened on December 13, 2003.
This station provides access to the Higashiyama campus of Nagoya University, which is the station's namesake, and the Nagoya campus of Nanzan University.

gollark: I finally got bothered to play factorio again, and got some construction bots. Seeing them demolish the horrible forests which had stopped me from doing much was glorious.
