NTv2

The NTv2 (National Transformation version 2) is a standard binary grid shift (.GSB) file format. It can transform coordinates between the NAD27 and NAD83 geodetic reference systems for example. The transformation is bidimensional (2D), or horizontal, and does not require heights.[1][2]

Development and adaptation

The National Transformation format has been developed by Natural Resources Canada's Geodetic Survey Division for conversions between NAD27 and NAD83 but it has been adapted to several other countries, such as Australia, Belgium[3], Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, New Zealand, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Venezuela[2] and the United Kingdom[4].

gollark: (The correction was about me saying it was TS6)
gollark: You could probably "fix" netsplits by making it refuse to operate without at least half the nodes, and untree it by having all servers directly connect to each other as needed.
gollark: Correction: it might be, I don't know.
gollark: I'm sure we can do better than the whole horrible netsplits thing and the tree structure.
gollark: citrons: I have no idea but I assume there is some!
