History
Varaždin ŠN was established in 2012 after a suspension of NK Varteks, a club which was suspended during the second part of the 2011–12 Prva HNL season, due to a high financial debt. Legally, the two clubs' track records and honours are kept separate by the Croatian Football Federation. However, in 2015 the club changed its name to NK Varaždin, after the old club got renamed to VŠNK Varaždin and was going to bankruptcy.[1]
