Munich North (electoral district)
Munich North (German: München-Nord) is one of the 299 single member constituencies used for the German parliament, the Bundestag. One of forty six districts in Bavaria and one of four districts covering the city of Munich, it covers six of the city's twenty five boroughs.
The constituency was created for the 1949 election, the first election in West Germany after World War II. Since its creation, the district has been a marginal, with ten of the elections won by the Christian Social Union (CSU) and the other nine by the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) . The constituency was gained by the SPD at the 1998 election, the only seat in Bavaria they held up until 2005.[1] The CSU regained the seat in 2009, by a margin of 1,500 votes, with postal votes proving key to their victory, and retained it at the following election in 2013.[2] The current MP is Bernhard Loos.
