Monksland
Monksland (Irish: Fearann na Manach)[2] is a townland and suburb of Athlone.[1] The townland lies in County Roscommon to the west of the River Shannon, on the border between the provinces of Connacht and Leinster.

The area has experienced rapid growth in recent years, developing from a cluster of housing estates on the outskirts of Athlone into an area with a growing population, a supermarket, other retail space and a business park (Monksland Business Park).[3]
