The town covers an area of 17.5 square kilometres (6.8 sq mi), and has a population of around 1,300.
Mohelno lies on the Jihlava River, approximately 25 kilometres (16 mi) south-east of Třebíč, 53 km (33 mi) south-east of Jihlava, and 167 km (104 mi) south-east of Prague.
