Brave Combat Federation

Brave Combat Federation was established on 23 September 2016 by Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa with Mohammed Shahid as the President.[8][9][9] BRAVE Combat Federation features mixed martial artists from more than 40 nations[10] located in five continents. BRAVE Combat Federation events are aired though multiple media partners including Abu Dhabi Sports, MTV India, El Rey Network, Combate, Myx TV, S+A, ESPN 5, and Bahrain Radio and Television Corporation.

The organization was formally launched in 2016 and has established operations in Dublin,[11] São Paulo and Mumbai[12] prior to launching events and for talent relations. Brave Combat Federation, alongside the holding company, KHK MMA and Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation hosted the IMMAF World Championships in November, 2017.,[13] a partnership which was renewed for 2018 and 2019[14]. Shahid managed the promotion to organize events in 19 nations after its formation on 23 September 2016. Strategic partnerships were established in Brazil, India, Colombia, Europe, Indonesia, and U.A.E by the promotion[15][16][17]. Mohammed Shahid was also among the chief officials who led Bahrain to host 2017 Brave International Combat Week that featured 2017 International Mixed Martial Arts Federation world championships held in Bahrain.[18]

KHK Sports

KHK MMA evolved into promoting more sports including Cricket and Boxing[19]. KHK Sports and MTK Global have announced the boxing summit to be held in Bahrain in the autumn of 2020[20]. It was announced that Bahrain will host its first-ever world title contest which will be broadcast live in the USA, UK, and around the world[21]. A potential bout between WBA champion Manny Pacquiao and WBO titleholder Terrence Crawford was hinted to take place in autumn[22]. The announcement was followed by top British promoter Frank Warren, veteran heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis, Briton Amir Khan and former four-weight champion Roy Jones Jr. expressing support for the initiative by Bahrain to expand in Boxing[23]. Coca-Cola Bahrain Premier League[24] was organized [25] under KHK Sports in 2018. The initiative is a franchise-based cricket tournament of T20 format.[26]

Mixed Martial Arts Career

Mohammed Shahid started his career as a professional fighter in the Super Fight League.[27] He became the first fighter from GCC to be featured in the Super Fight League.[28] He later went on to become the first fighter from the Middle East to headline the main event of an MMA event.[29] He holds a record of 4-2-0 in his professional career.[27]

Campaign against UFC 249

Brave Combat Federation initiated an awareness campaign in wake of COVID-19 pandemic. The events announced by the promotion was postponed[30] until further notice[31]. The organization recruited its athletes as ambassadors[32] to create awareness in the regions of operation[33]. Mohammed Shahid criticized UFC for continuing with plans to stage the UFC 249 event on April 18[34]. The opinion has received wide support in Asia and Europe which were widely affected by the pandemic[35]. Due to mounting pressure, UFC 249 was canceled after interventions from California state officials and Disney & ESPN[36] executives—shortly after the promotion had finalized plans to host their upcoming fight card in Lemoore, CA[37].

gollark: I read a convincing and well-cited... reddit post... on the health benefits of strength training last year.
gollark: I should probably find a scale or something and start tracking that.
gollark: Like basically every other business where people are physically present which is considered nonessential, I guess.
gollark: Online classes for physical skills based around other people are probably a *bit* useful if done right, but not very.
gollark: I'm not entirely sure what you're saying there, but yes, I'm *intellectually* aware exercise is good and all, I just dislike actually doing any.
