Coaching career
Wells started his career as an intern coaching staff for the Houston Rockets in 1994-95 season. The team was coached by legendary head coach, Rudy Tomjanovich. At that time, the Rockets won their first championship in franchise history during the previous season. The following season, they ended the season with a 45-37 season record, on track in winning their second championship in a row after beating the Orlando Magic in a sweep.[1]
In June 2014, Wells signed a deal to be an assistant coach of the Utah Jazz under head coach Quin Snyder.[2]
