Mikaela Shaw

Mikaela Shaw is an American model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Wyoming 2015 and also won Miss Wyoming USA 2017. She competed at Miss America 2016 title in September 13, 2015 and will also compete at Miss USA 2017.

Pageant career

In 2013, Shaw won the Miss Albany County title then competed in the 2013 Miss Wyoming pageant as one of 6 finalists.[1] Her platform was promoting music education and her talent was playing the violin. She won the swimsuit and talent competitions and was named first runner-up to winner Rebecca Podio.[2] She was also chosen as Miss Congeniality.[3] As first runner-up, Shaw competed at National Sweetheart 2013. Shaw was not one of finalists in the 2014 Miss Wyoming pageant.[4]

Shaw was crowned Miss University of Wyoming 2015 which made her eligible to compete at the 2015 Miss Wyoming pageant held at the Sheridan Theater in Sheridan, Wyoming.[5] Entering the state pageant in May 2015 as one of 7 finalists, Shaw's platform is "The Benefits of Music Education in Elementary Schools".[6] Title hopefuls compete in talent, lifestyle, interview, evening wear, and fitness in a swimsuit categories then answer on-stage questions from the judges.[7] Her preliminary competition talent was playing the violin.[5] Shaw won the competition on Saturday, May 30, 2015, when she received her crown from outgoing Miss Wyoming titleholder Jessie Allen.[8]

As Miss Wyoming, her activities include public appearances across the state of Wyoming, including radio shows, schools, and local rodeos.[6] Shaw was Wyoming's representative at the Miss America 2016 pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in September 2015.[9][6] In the televised finale on September 13, 2015, she placed outside the Top 15 semi-finalists and was eliminated from competition. She was awarded a $3,000 scholarship prize as her state's representative.[10][11]

Early life and education

Shaw is a student at the University of Wyoming where she studies marketing.[5] She is a member of the Chi Omega sorority.[12]
