Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Synod
The Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Synod is one of the 65 synods, or dioceses, of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The synod consists of all ELCA congregations in Washington, D.C. and surrounding counties and cities: Loudoun, Fairfax, Arlington, and Prince William counties and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, and Falls Church in Virginia; and Montgomery, Prince George's, Charles, Calvert, and St. Mary's counties in Maryland. The synod is headed by a bishop, currently Leila M. Ortiz.
