Style of play
Despite being only 18 years old, Liga MX's Centro de Innovación Tecnológica (Center for Technological Innovation), has shown he has played on the field as a "veteran" player by showing great tranquility and composure on the ball. As of week 14 of the 2018–19 Liga MX season, he has an 83% pass completion and has completed 162 passes on the rival's side of the pitch, being the best in this category for Mexican football.[4]
Marcel is a natural attacking midfielder, plays freely behind the forwards, he has the innate ability to search and find the gap, and is capable of shooting accurately.[1]
Ruiz cites Andrés Iniesta as an idol and an influence on his playing style.[5]
