Malmköping is located about 15 kilometers north of the municipal seat Flen. It is a tourist attraction due to its many annual markets.[2] The traditions of markets in Malmköping goes back more than two centuries, as Malmköping got market town rights (köping) in 1785.

There is also a museum tramway in Malmköping, the Museispårvägen Malmköping, which runs heritage trams from most of the Swedish tramway systems. Olympian Helge Meuller was born here.[3]

In literature

Jonas Jonasson's 2009 novel The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared opens in Malmköping. The movie, however, is recorded in Munkedal, Bohuslän.[4]

gollark: We really could use a name for the "mana flows like a current" one.
gollark: I could probably just dump this rift wyrm, but I don't particularly want to.
gollark: I'm going to have to try and get that in 2 hours when I have *another* open slot.
gollark: The release is going to probably still be around in 2 hours, right? To get all six I need an extra eggslot, and I've got an egg hatching in, well, 2 hours.
