Magna Park

History and description

Magna Park was created by a collaboration between the Church of England and Asda in 1988;[1] constructed on the site of a former airfield (RAF Bitteswell) it is considered a pioneer of large distribution centres in the UK.[2] It is located in an area of land bounded by the M1, M6 and M69 motorways; known as the 'Golden Triangle' for its logistically favourable location.[3][4]

In 2005 a major fire at UK clothing retailer Primark's warehouse at the site destroyed much of the company's stock.[5]

In 2007 tenants included Asda, Britvic, Honda, Toyota, BT, Argos, LIDL, Merck Eurolab, TNT and Panasonic.[6] In 2008 it was the largest distribution centre in Europe.[1]

gollark: I prefer declarative service files, systemd integrates logging (so that `systemctl status` can show the last few lines of output) and generally has a nicer UI for monitoring and managing things (also, it seems that restarting services in OpenRC causes their output to just be printed to your terminal?), and actually that's basically it.
gollark: As for specific issues, I'm typing.
gollark: OpenRC on Alpine, Runit on Void.
gollark: I've used both and I don't really like the user experience.
gollark: I think you could reasonably make a nicer service manager which just reads INI files, manages processes, communicates with some logging backend, and has an API for firing events/managing services. But nobody seems to have done this.
