Luxury is a continuation of Fantastic Plastic Machine's previous work in Shibuya-kei, though in some tracks there are indications of a shift towards house music with 1960s Northern Soul and 1970s Philadelphia soul, a path he explored more in his next album, Beautiful. "There Must Be an Angel (Playing With My Heart)", is a cover version of a Eurythmics song. Vocals on this version are performed by Lorraine Bowen. Her vocals also appear on the track "Bossa for Jackie".

gollark: If I ever end up being transported back in time by several thousand years, I'll have a minor advantage if I can actually remember anything, happen to end up in the appropriate era for the particular dialects covered, and do not horribly butcher the pronunciation, see.
gollark: I also did very practical languages like Ancient Greek and Latin.
