On March 16, 2020, at the Beverly Hills Superior Court, a unanimous verdict was rendered against Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, CA for negligence in the 2014 death of a Redondo Beach man from feeding tubes placed into both of his lungs by a nurse causing both to collapse. The hospital engaged in a cover-up afterwards in trying to conceal the cause of death from the Los Angeles Coroner's Office. The California Department of Public Health Investigated and found the nurse who performed the procedure to lack documented competency in the skill. The jury awarded 1.5 million in non-economic damages to the surviving spouse.[1]
