Career

2016–2018: Idol and first single

In 2016 Cacatian Thomassen auditioned to take part in the twelfth season of Swedish Idol. During the Qualifying Week he took part in the fourth heat performing the song "Sure Thing", he failed to qualify for the Finals, but went through as a wildcard. He made it through the live shows to the final along with Rebecka Karlsson and Charlie Grönvall. On 9 December 2016 he won the contest. After winning Idol, Cacatian Thomassen released his winner's single "Playing with Fire". The song peaked at number 6 on the Swedish Singles Chart.

2018–present: Melodifestivalen

Cacatian Thomassen competed in Melodifestivalen 2018 with the song "Last Breath". He finished in 6th place in the final. He also participated in Melodifestivalen 2019 with the song "Hold You" in a duet with Hanna Ferm. They both finished in third place.[2]

Background and early life

Thomassen has roots in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Philippines.[3] He grew up bullied in school, he had no friends and he felt lonely spending the breaks by himself. While every guy in his school was playing soccer, he was interested in his sketchbook. He dropped out of school in the first year of Upper Secondary School. Liam had a lot of trouble getting along with the teachers. He describes that most of the teachers he's had said the following to him: "I am your teacher, you'll only listen", which Thomassen mentions that "he just couldn't handle". He didn't think that anyone understood his purpose/goal and he also believe that he haven't had that much benefit from his time in school. Most of what he has learned originates from "the streets, reality, music and people". As of recent years, he still doesn't have a huge circle of friends to hang out with but according to him, he is happy with who he is and what he has.[4]
