Taxonomy

Joël Lodé created the genus Leuenbergeria in 2012.[2] Leuenbergeria was previously placed in a broadly defined genus Pereskia. Molecular phylogenetic studies suggested that there were two clades within the genus, Clade A, now Leuenbergeria, and Clade B, a more tightly circumscribed Pereskia.[3][4]
