Leora Levy
Leora Levy is a Cuban-American businesswoman, currently serving a representative to the Republican National Committee for Connecticut. In October 2019, Levy was nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as the United States Ambassador to Chile.

Early life and education
Levy born in Cuba in the late 1950s and fled with her family from Fidel Castro's regime.[1] She earned an Bachelor of Arts from Brown University.[2][3][4]
Career
Levy was one of the first female commodity traders to work as a sugar trader and Assistant Vice President at Ambrit Sugars and as an International Sugar, Steel and Copper Concentrates Trader and Traffic Executive for Phibro-Salomon, Inc.[2]
Her long history of leadership includes Finance Chairman of the Connecticut Republican Party from 2013–2015.[3] She served as served as the finance chair for Republican Bob Stefanowski during his bid for governor of Connecticut in 2018.[1]
In the 2016 Republican primary, she supported Jeb Bush. She criticized Donald Trump, saying at the time that he was "vulgar, ill-mannered and disparages those whom he cannot intimidate".[5] She later applauded Trump's leadership.[5]
Ambassadorship nomination
On September 26, 2019, President Trump announced his intent to nominate Levy to be the next United States Ambassador to Chile.[2] On October 25, 2019, her nomination was sent to the Senate.[6] On January 3, 2020, her nomination was returned to the President under Rule XXXI, Paragraph 6 of the United States Senate.[7] On May 4, 2020, her renomination was sent to the Senate.[8] Her nomination is currently pending before the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
Awards and recognition
In 2019, Levy was named the winner of the Prescott Bush Award, the highest honor of the Connecticut Republican Party.[9][5]
