Notable video game titles that the studio has been involved with include Final Fantasy VII Remake, Resident Evil Resistance, Warcraft III: Reforged, StarCraft: Remastered, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Marvel's Spider-Man, and Gears of War 5.[1]

The studio has also done work for notable animation series' such as TruckTown[2] and Nickelodeon's Middle School Moguls.[3]

History

In 2010, Lemon Sky Studios was officially founded by Malaysian artists Cheng-Fei Wong and Ken Foong.[4]

In 2014, Lemon Sky signed a memorandum of understanding with Bandai Namco Singapore to facilitate partnerships on the co-development of future games.[5]

In 2015, Lemon Sky opened a new office branch in Penang, Malaysia, which currently houses a team of over 30 artists.

In 2017, Lemon Sky celebrated its anniversary by hosting an event called "Hello Lemon Sky" where members of the public were invited to the studio in a celebration of all of the studio's work in the art and animation industry thus far.[6]

In 2018, Lemon Sky debuted its first original animation title: AstroLOLogy[7] - a series of comedic animated shorts featuring a cast of 12 characters who each represent stylized versions of the western zodiac star signs.[8] As of April 2020, AstroLOLogy has reached over 566,000 subscribers on its official YouTube channel.[9] AstroLOLogy has since gone on to win numerous awards from various international media and film festivals.[10][11][12]

In 2019, Lemon Sky won the Exporter of the Year award at the Malaysian Export Excellence Awards 2019.[13]

Organization

Lemon Sky's production team is made up of over 300 artists and production staff with a wide range of nationalities and expertise.[14]

The studio's headquarters is located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with an additional branch located in the city of Penang.

The studio's founders, Cheng-Fei Wong and Ken Foong, currently act as the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Creative Officer of the studio respectively.
