The album is a concept album about "a nation trying to find itself" according to lyricist Steve Anderson. However, they admit that their intent in many cases was to have 2 different parallel stories or interpretations—for example, in addition to the nation-based theme, that the songs be just as applicable on a personal level.[2]

gollark: It's possible that I missed that/the messages were deleted, but mostly it seems that he just complained about things like, er, TF3 Confirmed using voice chat, people here being "karens", that sort of thing.
gollark: Not really.
gollark: Discord bans also ban the IP or something, but most people are on dynamic IPs nowadays.
gollark: Weird how all the "think for yourself" conspiracy stuff seems to be quite similar and concentrate on about the same things.
gollark: I see.
