Federal judicial service

On May 23, 2013, President Barack Obama nominated McCafferty to serve as a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire, to the seat vacated by Judge Steven J. McAuliffe, who took senior status on April 1, 2013. After months of delay, the Senate confirmed McCafferty's nomination, 79-19, on December 12, 2013, after voting 58–40 for cloture on the nomination, cutting off a Republican-led filibuster.[5] McCafferty is the first woman to serve as a district judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire.[6] She received her judicial commission on December 17, 2013.[4] She became Chief Judge on November 1, 2018. She is the first woman to serve as Chief Judge of the District of New Hampshire.[7]

gollark: I have seen *some* of that page, so you are.
gollark: I do clearly have a page on it, as lignum has demonstrated.
gollark: Presumably whatever is on the secret internal wiki. They are not very transparent about it.
