Lake Township became its own stand alone civil township in 1816 after its original formation as a survey township within Plain Township then in 1806 within Green Township.[5][6] Statewide, other Lake Townships are located in Ashland, Logan, and Wood counties.

Government

The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township fiscal officer,[7] who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the fiscal officership or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.

Education

Most students attend the Lake Local School District; their high school is Lake High School. Some students attend the North Canton City School District, and their high school is Hoover High School. A small number of students attend the Plain Local School District of Plain Township; their high school is GlenOak High School.

gollark: I have TLS because it massively reduces the chances of highly important* data going to osmarks.net being intercepted, even though it doesn't obscure *everything* and has holes.
gollark: You can use things because they will probably increase security. Even if they are not perfect.
gollark: Yes you can.
