Kommunizm (band)

Kommunizm (Russian: Коммунизм, Communism) are a Russian conceptual art collective from Omsk. The band was formed in 1988 and broke up in 1990. Initially a studio-only project, they re-united to play live in 2010. Kommunizm was founded by Yegor Letov, Oleg Sudakov (who also functioned as the band's manager), and Konstantin Ryabinov as a side-project of the cult Siberian band Grazhdanskaya Oborona.

The band released fourteen albums during their original run, including ten in 1989 alone. Some of the albums were reissued in 2003 on the XOP label, and in 2007, some were remastered and reissued with bonus tracks by Misteria Zvuka. Two albums were reissued on vinyl with bonus tracks in 2011 by Neuro Empire's Stanzmarke imprint. Letov and his wife Natalia Chumakova had privately remastered the entire discography in 2005. Between 2013 and 2016, Wyrgorod carried out a reissue campaign of Kommunizm's entire discography, based on the 2005 remasters. Konstantin Ryabinov died on March 16, 2020 aged 55.

gollark: The system is weird and half government-funded, though. There's a cap of £9250/year but most universities just charge right up to the limit.
gollark: Well, yes, you do pay here. In pretty much all cases you will pay anyway, just indirectly.
gollark: Anyway, I'm not completely convinced that universities actually do offer enough value that spending three/four years and ~£50000+ is worth it.
