Etymology

"Klahowya", also spelled as "Klahowyum", is Chinook Jargon. It is colloquially pronounced "Kluh-HOW-yuh", as in "Klahowya doin'?" However, the correct pronunciation is “Kluh-HOY-Yuh”, meaning “welcome”. [3]
