Kirsten Goss

Kirsten Goss (born 1975,[1] Gauteng[2]) is a jewellery designer, gemologist and entrepreneur based in South Africa.[3]

Early life

Kirsten Goss was born in Gauteng, South Africa and was raised in Transkei as well as Durban where she attended Durban Girls' College.[2][4] After obtaining a Fine Arts degree in Jewellery Design at Stellenbosch University, Kirsten Goss travelled to London where she designed jewellery for Erickson Beamon.[5].

Career

In 2002, Kirsten Goss established her eponymous label in London before opening her flagship store in Kensington in 2005.[6][7] Once Kirsten returned to South Africa, she established 3 more stores in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.[8] Besides having designed pieces for Kate Middleton and Prince William's royal wedding,[9] Kirsten's work has been worn by celebrities such as Nicole Scherzinger, Rosamund Pike and Sarah Jessica Parker.[10][9] She draws inspiration for her work from her grandmother's Scandinavian jewellery as well as her experiences from her colourful African childhood.[11][9]

Awards

In 2012, Lily Pad, a ring designed by Kirsten Goss won Most Beautiful Object in South Africa at the annual Design Indaba.[12] Kirsten was named Entrepenuer of the Year at the SA Business Awards in 2011 and was listed as one of the Top UK Jewellers of 2013.[13][14]
