Kilanas

Kilanas is a settlement in Brunei-Muara District, Brunei. It is officially a village subdivision under the mukim of the same name in the district. The postcode for Kilanas is BF2520.[2][3]

Name

As a village subdivision, Kilanas is officially known in Malay as Kampung Kilanas (Kampung is sometimes spelt as Kampong), which literally means 'Kilanas Village'.

Administration

Kilanas is administered as a village, the third- and lowest-level administrative division of Brunei. It is one of the subdivisions under the mukim of the same name (Malay: Mukim Kilanas), which is a subdistrict of Brunei-Muara. The community of Kilanas is headed by a village head (Malay: ketua kampung) and the incumbent is Mohd Rais bin Sabtu.[1][4] Kilanas is also a designated postcode area with the postcode BF2520.[2][3]

Education

Orang Kaya Setia Bakti Primary School is the public primary school which provides general primary education to the resident pupils of Kilanas. Meanwhile, Pengiran Anak Puteri Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah Religious School is the ugama school in the area; the school provides Islamic religious primary education which is compulsory for Muslim children in the country.[5]

Also located in Kilanas is Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School, a public secondary school which provides general secondary education for the residents of Kilanas as well as the surrounding settlements.

There are two mosques in Kilanas, namely Kampong Kilanas Mosque and Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque. The former is the village mosque and where as the latter is designated as the mosque for the entire mukim of Kilanas.
