Kentucky Route 72

Kentucky Route 72 is a 16.932-mile (27.249 km) state highway in Kentucky that is separated into two segments. The western segments runs from U.S. Route 119 just north of Blackmont to Rockhouse Branch Road just southeast of Alva via Blackmont, Pathfork, and Alva. The eastern segment runs from a dead end west of Pansy to Kentucky Route 413 at Baxter via Mary Alice and Harlan. It appears that the two segments were originally planned to connect, as the segments are separated by only a few miles. The 1977 Official County Map of Harlan County has the two sections connected by what basically amounts to a trail.[2]
