Kentucky Route 247

Kentucky Route 247 (KY 247) is a 14.2-mile-long (22.9 km) state highway in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The highway travels through mostly rural areas of Nelson County.

Route description

KY 247 begins at an intersection with KY 84 in Howardstown, within Nelson County. It travels to the north-northeast and immediately crosses over Lunar Creek. It leaves the community and passes St. Ann Cemetery before curving to the west-northwest. The highway curves around Newton Point and curves to the northeast. It curves to the north-northeast and crosses over Cane Run. The highway curves to the east-northeast, crosses over Trace Creek, and heads to the north-northwest. It then crosses over Pottinger Creek and then some CSX railroad tracks before it enters Trappist. There, it begins a concurrency with KY 52 (New Hope Road). The two highways head to the northeast and curve to an easterly direction, then split. KY 247 heads to the north-northwest and curves to the northeast. It curves back to the north-northwest and passes Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani and curves to the north-northeast. The highway finally curves to the north-northwest and enters Culvertown, where it meets its northern terminus, an intersection with U.S. Route 31E (US 31E; New Haven Road).[1]
