Keche

Keche is a Ghanaian musical hip-life group formed in 2004.[1] They are popularly known for their hit Sokode, which was part of the popular azonto tracks of 2012.[2] The duo were conferred an honorary title "Global Ambassadors for Peace" by the president of Liberia in 2011.[3]

History

The Keche hiplife group[4] is a duo made up of Joshua Ampah and Andrew Cudjoe [5][6][7] both born and bread in the Western Region of Ghana, Takoradi.[1][8][9][10] The two has been friends for over 15 years now.[9] The word Keche means "skills" in the Akan language.[6][7] Keche Musical group was formed in 2004 and in 2008, they released their first single[1] "Omegami" [11] this was followed by their next single "Ring my bell" which featured Sarkodie.[11]

They are known for their popular songs Sokode, Aluguntugui, Daibetes, Pressure, etc.[9] In 2011, the Keche group was recognised as a Global Ambassador for Peace by the then Liberia's President, her Excellency Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.[3] Following that, the group also performed at the UN Peace concert in Monrovia, Liberia in 2014[12] which gave the group recognition across Africa.[13] In 2019, the group signed a 2 year record deal with Golden Empire Legacy Limited, a music record label.[14][15][16][16]
