Justin Jaynes

Justin Michael Jaynes (born August 10, 1989)[1] is an American mixed martial artist. A professional since 2008, he currently competes in the Featherweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He was the formal Warrior Xtreme Cagefighting (WXC) Lightweight champion.

Background

Jaynes placed second at the 2005 Michigan High School state wrestling tournament, losing to Drakkar Klose in the finals.[2] Jaynes then continued his wrestling career at Olivet College.[3]

Mixed martial arts career

Early career

Jaynes fought in various regional circuits and fought multiple times overseas. He also made one appearance in Bellator. Jaynes won the WXC Lightweight title[4] and made one successful defense before leaving for the UFC.[5]

Ultimate Fighting Championship

After a cornerman for Matt Frevola tested positive for COVID-19,[6] Jaynes stepped in to fight Frank Camacho on three days notice. Jaynes knocked Camacho out in the first round.[7][8] He earned Performance of the Night honors.[9][10]

Jaynes faced Gavin Tucker at UFC Fight Night 174.[11] He lost the fight via a rear-naked choke in round three.[12]

Personal life

Jaynes is a coach at Xtreme Couture MMA in Las Vegas.[13]
