Together with the National Park José del Carmen Ramírez, the two parks were established in February 1956.[1]
It is a very high area with cold and cool temperatures during most of the year (from −9 °C [16 °F] to 15 °C [59 °F]).
Natural history
The range supports the Hispaniolan pine forests ecoregion, of the Tropical and subtropical coniferous forests Biome.
The forests flora of notable biodiversity has many native trees, shrubs, and ferns, including:[1]
- Hispaniolan pine (Pinus occidentalis) — endemic to Hispaniola island.
- ebony
- Pale Magnolia (Magnolia pallescens) — tree endemic to Hispaniola island, IUCN Red List endangered species.
- West Indies Mahogany (Swietenia mahagoni) — endemic to the Caribbean and southern Florida.
- Dominican butterfly bush (Buddleja domingensis) (syn.Buddleja calcicola) — endemic to Hispaniola island.[2]
Notes
gollark: It has a built-in JPEG encoder, since apparently that was cheaper than putting a USB 3 interface in.
gollark: I do have a random Chinese USB device which works as an HDMI input too.
gollark: TV boards have it, but that's quite specialized.
gollark: Anyway, it also has overengineered video codecs and a good GPU.
gollark: It's a very rare feature because few people actually need it for anything ever.
