John Helyar
John Helyar (born 1951) [1] is an American former journalist who has worked for The Wall Street Journal, Fortune magazine, ESPN.com, ESPN The Magazine and Bloomberg News.[2] He currently works as a research analyst at Select Equity Group.[3]

Helyar is the author of the books Lords of the Realm: The Real History of Baseball (which, according to WorldCat, is held in 688 libraries).[4]
His reporting with Bryan Burrough on RJR Nabisco earned them the 1989 Gerald Loeb Award for Deadline and/or Beat Writing.[5] They turned their research into the book Barbarians at the Gate: The Fall of RJR Nabisco (held in 2249 libraries [6]), which was made into a film of the same title.[7]
