On election night in 2018, Dever initially appeared to lead.[7] However, after the bipartisan Hamilton County Board of Elections counted provisional ballots as part of a closely watched recount, Miranda was declared the victor by a 56-vote margin.[8] This was the closest margin of victory of any state legislative campaign in Ohio.[9]

HB235: to designate the sugar cookie as the official State cookie of Ohio. A joint effort, co-sponsored by Representative Brigid Kelly. The bill was brought to the legislature by students in the 28th district who attend the All Saints Catholic School. The students conducted a project on how to get involved in the Legislative process and landed upon State named items like the state flower, juice, bird, etc. Students noticed that Ohio did not have a state cookie, and in the spirit of civic participation, asked Representative Jessica Miranda to introduce the bill.
