Youth career
In the school year 2005-06 Jesper Bøge went to the sports school in Ikast (ISI). During that time he played football in FC Midtjylland, but when the school year ended, he returned to his hometown, Bogense, while the football career continued in OB. However, it became a short visit to Bogense, as he struggled to make everyday life, so he quickly got home and returned to the academy of FC Midtjylland.[1]
Club career
FC Midtjylland
Bøge was on FC Midtjylland's academy for some years, and extended his contract for three years in 2009.[2] FC Midtjylland's reserve team, Ikast fS, had had some problems during the 2008/09 season, and in the summer 2009, Bøge and two other teammates was promoted to the squad.[3] However, he got his debut for FC Midtjylland on 6 December 2009 against FC Nordsjælland, where he replaced Jonas Borring in the 76th minute. This game was his only game in this season. But just a month later, he signed a new full-time contract and was promoted to the first team squad.[4]
In August 2011, Bøge suffered a groin injury and was out for three months. He was back in October, but got injured again in January 2012. Bøge didn't play a single game in this season, and revealed after the season, that he was ready to go out on a loan.[5] He was ready to leave FCM because he wanted more playing time than being the third choice in the club.
FC Fyn
On 3 August 2012, Bøge signed with Danish 1st Division-side FC Fyn.[6] He quickly became a profile for the team and was already a half year later, linked to many clubs. FC Fyn went bankrupt in January 2013, and Bøge started his searching for a new club. Bøge trained with Næsby BK for a while, but then Hobro IK entered the race for his signature.
Hobro IK
In March 2013, Bøge signed a 1.5-year contract with Danish 1st Division club Hobro IK.[7] He got his debut on 28 March against HB Køge, which Hobro won 1–0.
Bøge quickly became an important player for the team and extended his contract for two years, after a successful 2013/14 season with 32 league games played.[8] After Hobro was relegated to the 1st Division after the 2015/16, Bøge helped the team to gain promotion again in the following season, where Hobro and Bøge won the Danish 1st Division.
