Jacob Nasirov

Jacob Nasirov is a prominent Bukharian rabbi residing in Jamaica Estates, Queens, New York. His family originated in Bukhara and immigrated to Afghanistan in 1932. At age 5, his family made aliyah to Israel. After serving in the Israel Defense Forces and working for a few years, in 1980 he was called to serve as the hazan and rabbi of Anshei Shalom synagogue, the only Afghan-Jewish congregation in the United States. He is currently the Rabbi of Congregation Bet-El - Sephardic Center of Jamaica Estates. Nasirov was at one time a kosher certifier of restaurants, but he is no longer involved in this.

gollark: I am not that great at understanding weird social group dynamics things. I don't like them, and I wouldn't really like relying on that sort of thing for survival.

gollark: Anyway, to me, the utopian "means of production are shared, and the fruits of labor are also shared" thing with stuff managed by social whatever instead of financial incentives actually doesn't sound utopian and is quite bad.

gollark: But they're still fairly widely supported on one side, or they couldn't happen.

gollark: Yes, the current ones are just random relatively small conflicts.

gollark: And people historically supported wars and were very patriotic about them.
