History

The Racers were formed in 2014, entering the IBA for the 2014 Spring season. The team played home games at Martin Luther King Park Fieldhouse, which is part of the Markham Park District.

On March 16, 2014 the Racers won their first game in franchise history, defeating the Kankakee County Soldiers 117-103.[1]

After an 8-3 regular season Markham moved on to the IBA Playoffs, earning a bye to the semifinals as the Kenosha Ballers were unable to travel to compete. With a win over the St. Louis Trotters the Racers advanced to the championship game, losing to fellow expansion team Grand Rapids Fusion 104-92.[2]

After the 2014 Spring season the team moved from Markham to the Lithuanian World Center Riškus Hall, also home of the Chicago Lithuanian Basketball League (ČLKL), and changed their name to the International Racers.

gollark: My tape metadata format has become weirdly popular despite being quite poorly designed, so now there are two player things and three encoders.
gollark: I should really update the music collection on my ingame tape thing.
gollark: So, has any stuff happened on SC lately?
gollark: You should make a Wikipedia page for "tamassia's algorithm for orthogonal graph drawings" then.
gollark: I hate the bizarre confusion between MiB and MB. It should *not* be a problem, but software is almost never clear about which one it displays.
