Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Surakarta

Institute Seni Indonesia Surakarta (ISI Surakarta) is an arts university in Surakarta, Indonesia.

It was founded in 1965 as the Akademi Seni Karawitan Indonesia (ASKI). In 1983 it merged with the Akademi Seni Tari Indonesia (ASTI) to form the Sekolah Tinggi Seni Indonesia Surakarta (STSI Surakarta). In September 2006 it was raised to the level of an institute and given its current name.

They are famous for teaching karawitan, wayang, Javanese dance, and other traditional crafts. The rector is Dr. Drs Guntur, M.Hum.
