Though RCA Records issued The Last of the Mohicans EP in the US, the label wanted a full-length album to capitalize on the American success of the "I Want Candy" music video on MTV. Side 1 of I Want Candy contained all four tracks from The Last of the Mohicans EP and their recent hit single, "Baby, Oh No". Side 2 consisted of four tracks from See Jungle! See Jungle! Go Join Your Gang, Yeah. City All Over! Go Ape Crazy and "El Boss Dicho", the B-side to the "Go Wild in the Country" single.

The album featured production by Kenny Laguna of Joan Jett & the Blackhearts fame.[4]

The cover photograph, a nude image of lead singer Annabella Lwin painted gold, was taken by Jim Varriale. This photo was later reversed for the cover of the 2008 Love, Peace & Harmony - The Best of Bow Wow Wow compilation album.

I Want Candy is also the name of a 2003 two-disc Bow Wow Wow anthology from Castle Music's Sanctuary Records, and a 2007 three-track EP on Cleopatra Records, which also contained a cover of the Smiths' "I Started Something I Couldn't Finish".

gollark: Are you that unaware of basic modern apiology/apiomemetics?
gollark: And why not just tell magic™ "these people are to be turned into pure memetic beeite in the most energy-efficient way possible"? Does it not like this?
gollark: You can happily drop heavy objects from quite high up, or fire bullets, with cereal bar amounts of energy, though.
gollark: In Eragon, you can do arbitrary things magically, but it costs as much energy as "doing it yourself" would.
gollark: But still, you would expect mages to carry around ridiculously energy dense carbohydrate slurry or something.
