I'm Thinking of Ending Things is an upcoming American psychological horror film written and directed by Charlie Kaufman. It is based on the 2016 novel of the same name by Iain Reid.

Premise

Despite second thoughts about their relationship, a young woman takes a road trip with her new boyfriend to his family farm. Trapped at the farm during a snowstorm with Jake's mother and father, the young woman begins to question the nature of everything she knew or understood about her boyfriend, herself, and the world.

Production

It was announced in January 2018 that Charlie Kaufman was adapting the novel for Netflix, as well as directing.[3] In December, Brie Larson and Jesse Plemons were cast in the film.[4][5] In March 2019, Jessie Buckley, Toni Collette and David Thewlis joined the cast of the film, with Buckley replacing Larson.[6]

Principal photography began on March 13, 2019 in Fishkill, New York,[7] and was completed on April 29, 2019.[8] As of November 7, 2019, the film was in post-production.[8][9]

Release

It is scheduled to be released on September 4, 2020.[10]
